Daily Deals Website - Save on almost anything!

I've been seen lots of these daily deal websites popping up lately so I thought I'd share them.

I first came accross one called Groupon.  Each day they offer a promotion through a local business at their best price, generally the discount is at least 50% off the regular prices so really cheap deals! They leverage collective buying power to get these deals. They set a minimum number of people needed to join in on the deal before it takes effect so that the business owners don't go bust. However I've seen this target met on every deal I've watched. I actually set this as my home page for San Diego to keep an eye on travel deals in the area. There is one Groupon page for pretty much every major US city.

Visit Groupon to find out more.

I then came accross a similar concept with Woot! however this one is just a deal on products, generally gadgets and electronics for the techy in our lives. There is no minimum buy but there is a maxium. So you got to get in early to take advantage. The sale only lasts for 24 hours.

Woot!has been soo successful that they expanded into kids.woot!, shirt.woot!, wine.woot! () and sellout.woot!

I now have my home page set on the wine deals a great place to find a gift for the wine lovers in your life.

Be sure to also check out the side deals they currently have a Garmin GPS for $172.54

Find out what Today's woot is.  (Warning, it's addicting)

And finally as I hunt around for a baby gift for my very pregnant sister (she's due at the end of this month), I found this one called Baby Half Off. They sell baby & kid product everyday for over half off of retail price. I just found this one but am wishing I'd gotten in on the really cute Flannel blankets they have for $5 ea.

Men LOVE Practical Gifts

We were just in San Diego this last weekend & my husband kept going on an on about how great his GPS is. He had been in SD 4 years earlier with the boys on a football trip and they wasted so much time driving back and forth trying to find places (since men hate asking for directions). So last year for his his birthday I gave him a Garmin Nuvi 265W GPS. We are frequent travelers and this unit has definetly come in handy. It is also very useful at home when you are trying to find a new location. You just pop in the address & voila you are off to your location.

The Nuvi Fone (a hybrid between smart phone & GPS unit) is now out in the market and I'm very interested in seeing how this phone compares to other smart phones such as the iPhone, Blackberry Storm, & the Google G1 (my personal favorite).

My best surprise!

Ok this one I can't take credit for. It was a surprise done to me.

I was at my boyfriend's family reunion at Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada. He asked me to join him, his sister and nephew on a flight to see his dad in Ottawa.  His brother in law had his pilot's licence & owned a 6 seater plane. George is an incredible guy. I met him a few years before on a houseboating trip with my girlfriends & had been my best friend since that day. He sat across from me on the plane & his nephew sat next to him. We were 11,000 feet up in the air when I saw him unbuckle his seat belt. I was confused since there is no washroom on the plane. He motioned that I take of my head set. He then got down on one knee and pulled out my dream ring. It was beautiful. It had a large princess diamond in a setting that looked like a tension setting but wasn't. I'm very clumsy.  Along one of the bands sat 6 smaller princess diamonds twinkling in the sun. He had custom designed my dream ring.

He asked me to marry him and as I cried from happiness for my very first time. I said Yes!

He found out what kind of ring I wanted by casually telling me to check out www.preciousplatinum.com where I found and bookmarked a beautiful tension set.

Here is another beautiful Tension Set Princess cut Diamond with Diamonds down the side.
